Summer 2016 Gay Wedding Trends

From limousines to shoes to invitations, we have you covered.

Something Borrowed

Zipping off from ceremony to reception in a ruby-red ’66 Cadillac Eldorado or ’37 Rolls-Royce Phantom is a terrific way to get your new marriage off to a fabulous start. Texas companies specializing in chauffeured antique limo transportation include Antique Limousines of Austin (antiquelimosaustin.com), Blue Diamond Limousines (Dallas, bluediamondlimos.net), Jordan Limousines (Houston, jordanlimos.com), Monarch British Limousines (Houston, monarchlimousines.com), and Premier Transportation (Dallas, premierofdallas.com). Most companies require a one- to two-hour minimum, or you can splurge and hire a driver to stay through the reception and whisk you away to your honeymoon suite.

Step It Up

Among the goods we’re admiring at ED (edbyellen.com;
also available at Nordstrom, nordstrom.com), the smart lifestyle brand created by Ellen DeGeneres, these denim-canvas Lola Oxfords ($150) pair perfectly with a summery linen bridal suit or tuxedo pants, yet are casual enough to wear to a Hill Country picnic. ED also carries fleece hoodies, braided belts, whimsical kitchenware, and other eye-catching gifts and accessories.

To the Letter

Austin’s Percolator Letterpress Co. (percolatorpress.com) custom designs artful, meticulously detailed wedding invitations, save-the-date cards, and envelope sets. Owners Alisa and Jeff Marrow work to create stationery that perfectly captures a client’s theme and style. For one recent same-sex wedding, they created this retro-rustic “field guide” invitation, complete with an illustrated map to the ceremony and reception.
