These days, with the explosion of Pinterest, brides want the personalized, handmade, DIY decorations for their wedding day that they’ve pinned to their dream wedding boards. However, the reality is that many brides either don’t have time to hand-make these things or are a little scared of their crafting skills because of their many previous “Pinterest fails.” Luckily for us, while Pinterest continued to gain more and more popularity, so too did Etsy – an online shop where you can buy handmade items. We’ve all heard of Etsy, and many of you have probably purchased something from an Etsy shop, but today I’m going to show you 6 ways you can use Etsy to get that DIY look for your wedding without actually doing it yourself.
This week I’ve done all the Etsy browsing for you! I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite wedding items that are great to order from Etsy – including pictures and links to purchase them!
1. BRIDESMAID GIFTS
Contents
One of the best things about Etsy is that it has a large selection of personalized items. This makes it a fantastic resource for reasonably priced bridesmaid gifts! Personalized robes, button-downs, makeup bags, and glassware are all adorable “getting ready” items that your girls can use the day of the wedding! I’ve pulled some of my favorite Etsy bridesmaid gifts to give you some ideas below! Click on the corresponding links to find these items on Etsy!
Find these adorable items here: Robes, Makeup Bags, Champagne Glasses, Tote Bags. All photos from corresponding Etsy shop pages.
2. PLACECARDS
Place cards are the one decor item that I think brides tend to overlook – yet they are so important!! These cute little items are the very first thing your guests are going to see at the reception. They are a great opportunity to express your theme and welcome your guests.
Find these here: Birch Tree Holders, Wine Cork Holders, Oyster Shell Placecards, Leaf Placecards. All photos from corresponding Etsy shop pages.
3. SIGNS
There are so many uses for handmade and personalized signs for weddings. Welcome signs, signature drink signs, gift table signs, the possibilities are endless! Plus these make adorable keepsakes for after the wedding is over!
All of these signs are from the Etsy shop PaperTangent. This is my all-time favorite Etsy shop for signs and I highly recommend checking it out! She has TONS of cute signs, but for now, here’s where you can find the ones above: The Bar Sign, Pie Sign, Welcome Sign, Wet Your Whistle Sign, Donuts Sign. All photos from corresponding Etsy shop pages.
4. CAKE TOPPERS
Many couples are straying from the plastic bride and groom topper and opting for a more personalized one. Etsy has a lot of shops providing cutout calligraphy toppers like the ones shown below.
Both of these are from the Etsy shop Hellominime. This shop has lots of different cake toppers that can be personalized for your wedding! Photos from corresponding Etsy shop page.
5. GUESTBOOKS
I love the idea of choosing an alternative to the typical guestbook. All of these options shown below are handmade and can be hung or displayed in your home after the wedding is over!
Find these unique guestbooks here: Whiskey Barrel Guestbook, Flower Guestbook, Wooden Guestbook, Initial Sign. All photos from corresponding Etsy shop pages.
6. TABLE NUMBERS
Table numbers, like place cards, are a fun way to further incorporate your colors or theme. Etsy provides hand-painted and hand-crafted unique table numbers that are perfect for the DIY bride who doesn’t have time to do it herself!
Find these table numbers here: Wine Cork Numbers, Wooden Table Numbers, Wine Bottle Label Numbers, Round Table Numbers. All photos from corresponding Etsy shop pages.
HOW I USED ETSY FOR OUR WEDDING
Just for fun, I went through our wedding photos (I just never get tired of looking at them!) and pulled pictures of a few of our Etsy items to show you how I used them in our wedding!
I was so happy with how all our Etsy purchases turned out! The place cards were definitely my favorite and matched our wintery theme so well! I will say after I got those pinecone place card holders, I did spend 4 hours hot gluing the place cards to the pinecones and that was quite a project… but totally worth it!
While I’ve listed a few ideas in this post, the possibilities are truly endless! If you’re a busy bride like I was, Etsy can be a really great way to tackle some of those personalized projects you want for your wedding decor. I believe most shops are reasonably priced and you can typically purchase the items for cheaper than if you bought all the supplies and spent a whole day crafting them yourself. I highly recommend using Etsy’s search bar to browse through some of your Pinterest ideas and hopefully make some of those “dream wedding” pins a reality! Happy shopping!
